  • Teaching Assistant (TA) or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

    Ashlands Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant or Higher Learning Teaching Assistant to work alongside our class teachers in Key stage 2 to provide a stable, caring, stimulating and supportive learning environment, which enables pupils to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.

    The core purpose of the roles is to work with the class teacher to ensure all pupils are engaged in their learning and are making sustained progress, as well as promoting pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. This will be through 1:1 and small group sessions.

    As a HLTA, your duties will also include covering and leading class teaching and directing the work of other adults in supporting learning, as required. You will also use your expertise to contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities.

    The ideal candidates will:

    • Have previous TA experience and a good standard of literacy and numeracy
    • Have a commitment to supporting and understanding pupil needs
    • Possess a positive, 'can do' and flexible attitude and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team; and
    • Candidates with a relevant HLTA standards qualification or equivalent would be desirable.

  • Exam Invigilator

    We are seeking to strengthen our bank of dedicated Exams Invigilators employed on a casual basis to assist in the smooth running of examinations in accordance with regulatory requirements throughout the academic year.

    Under the guidance of the Exams Officer, Invigilators are required to supervise students taking examinations, prepare exam rooms and distribute and collect exam papers. The ideal applicant will be highly organised, vigilant and reliable and have excellent attention to detail. Applicants will also possess the ability to remain composed under pressure to ensure a calm environment to give the candidates the best possible opportunity to be successful in their exams.

    We are particularly interested in flexible applicants who are available any day of the week (Monday-Friday), the hours will be varied. Invigilators receive annual training under the direction of our supportive Exams Officer and are contacted prior to the exam period to discuss their availability. Experience is not necessary as full training will be provided.

  • Chaplaincy Placement Student (Undergraduate Placement)

    We are seeking a Chaplain placement student to work within our thriving school community, as part of a formation programme supported by the Diocese of Bath & Wells. This placement provides the opportunity to be embedded in the pastoral and spiritual life of a school, while undertaking structured theological reflection and vocational development.

    As a Chaplaincy Placement Student, you will:

    • Be a visible pastoral presence within the school community
    • Support acts of worship and spiritual life
    • Engage with pupils of all faiths and none
    • Assist in chaplaincy initiatives (which may include sport, arts, music, boarding life, or outreach)
    • Participate in reflective supervision and a training programme alongside other placement students to support you in your formation.

    You will remain registered as a full-time student with your university for the duration of the placement year (the Student Loans Company have confirmed that, as these are placements in a care setting, students will be able to apply for full maintenance support for the duration of the year).

    This role may be ideal for a candidate who is looking to develop a career in education or experience the rewards of working with young people. If you think you possess the qualities and experience we are looking for, we would very much like to hear from you

    • Full accommodation and board (meals provided during term time)
    • Fixed term placement from Sept 2026 - July 2027, 33 hours per week.
