Celebrating GCSE Results 2020

Year 11 school leavers at Haygrove School queued to collect envelopes containing their important GCSE results. Although the school will not publish overall achievement data this year, there were still lots of stories of success to celebrate!                       more

Sedgemoor Schools Biathlon

9 March 2020

We were delighted to learn that pupils Daniel and Hayden successfully completed the Sedgemoor Schools Biathlon on Sunday 1 March and were proud to represent their school. A biathlon race comprises a 500 m run followed by a 50 m swim. The boys entered just for fun this year, but are now looking forward to competing again in 2021 and beathing their current personal best times! Great work boys!

World Book Day 

5 March 2020

Students form Spaxton and Stogursey and year 7 students from Haygrove all came in to school on Thursday 5th March dressed as their favourite book character to mark World Book Day, which is held every year to celebrate authors, illustrations, books and (most importantly) reading.

Two Brilliant Performances

14 February 2020

Over 100 students and staff were involved in this year's school production! The cast and behind the scenes crew showed enormous talent over three nights and wowed the audience of family,friends and staff with their brilliant performances.

Somerset Cricketer Luff Visits Haygrove

11 February 2020

Somerset County ladies cricketer, Sophie Luff, joined students at Haygrove School for a day of girls-only cricket training and was delighted to see how enthusiastic the Haygrove girls were about the sport.

First conference a huge success

The first QET conference 'Building Character, Shaping Futures' took place on 24 October 2019 at the McMillan Theatre, Bridgwater. Two prestigious guest speakers, Mr Andy Wolfe (Deputy Chief Education Officer for the Church of England) and Professor Dame Alison Peacock who is a prominent educationalist, public speaker, writer and Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching, inspired staff from the QET partner schools with their thoughts and experiences and students from all the schools took part in an opening performance demonstrating their talent and teamwork.

Primary Poems Published

Pupils at Spaxton C of E School have had their writing talents recognised by the Young Writers publishing group who run National Writing Competitions for primary and secondary schools. Read more here.

Trampolining Triumph 

28 January 2020

Haygrove were represented at the Southern Zonal Schools Trampoline Championships on Sunday 19th January 2020 and walked away with gold and silver medals which means some of the 18 Haygrove competitors will progress to the National Finals at the end of March. Read more here.

Land Trust Logo 

25 January 2020

Three talented students were over the moon to learn recently that their designs have been chosen for consideration for a new Community Land Trust (CLT) logo that is under development in the village. Read more here.

"We're saving our planet!"

20 January 2020

The children at Stogursey primary school have been learning about climate change and global warming and how we can save the planet. One pupil from the Alfoxton class says "We have been learning about climate change and how to help animals survive. We have been thinking about the animals in our village, like hedgehogs who are in danger." The children have also been learning about the effect of global warming on the recent Australian bush fires, with one student saying "We could visit Australia and give them hoses."
